Black Forest Jars

These Black Forest Jars are a simple yet impressive way to bring something delicious to your table this Christmas. Layers of rich chocolate brownie, vanilla bean cream, and cherry compote create the perfect mix of sweetness and indulgence, while a sprinkle of flaked dark chocolate adds a touch of texture and richness.
Served individually, they’re effortless to create ahead of time, share and make a beautiful addition to any festivity.
Makes: 4 individual jars | Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:
- 1 chocolate sponge or brownie, premade
- 670g sweet pitted cherries, jarred
- ½ cup sugar
- 300ml Maleny pure cream
- 1 vanilla pod
- 100g Flannerys bulk dark chocolate, chopped
Method:
- In a medium saucepan, combine pitted cherries and sugar and stir over a medium heat until thickened. This should take around 20 minutes. Set aside and cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, pour cream. Slice open vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds with the tip of a knife. Place into cream and combine. Set aside in the fridge.
- Place a spoonful of cherry compote into the base of your jars. Layer with sponge or brownie, cream and chocolate shavings and repeat until the jar is full.
- Serve immediately or place the lid on tightly and store in the fridge. Store for up to 2 days.
*You will likely have leftover sponge/brownie and cherry compote. To serve in a single large bowl, double the cream and chocolate and layer accordingly.
